PSD 2 European Payment Services Directive

Changes to our digital banking channels
(District, the Business Mobile App, and District)
In January 2018, the second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) came into force in Ireland. PSD2 aimed to increase competition, enable quicker payments in the European banking market and, above all else, to enhance payment security. Danske Bank in Ireland amended its terms and conditions to reflect the changes brought about by PSD2.
On 14 September 2019, the legislation was supplemented when a new regulatory technical standard on strong customer authentication and secure communication (RTS) took effect. The RTS results in technical changes in the payments area and in our digital channels strengthening security in relation to payments and the protection of your data. The changes were implemented in our systems automatically. Changes were also made to relevant terms and conditions in relation to the RTS taking effect, and you will have been advised separately about those.
